When it comes to digital or online marketing you have a whole host of channels to choose from but best practice dictates that you should be directing visitors to your channels back to your website. This is because the website is a hub and depository for all of your quality content, it’s your property (read the small print on your social media channels) and you can tailor the information displayed on your site as you see fit.

But with the majority of first-time visitors to your site (perhaps more than 90%) not ready to make a conversion or a commitment, what are they really looking for and what will make them come back to visit again (and again).

I’d argue that initially, visitors are looking for the answers to three questions:

  1. What do you do and can you help?
  2. How much will it cost?
  3. How do I get in contact?

I’ve spent the last few weeks simplifying the offers on my website to answer those three questions.

Not everyone will feel happy about adding prices to their website, It’s a contentious issue and may depend on your business and market sector but in my experience it’s what people want to know.

It stands to reason that if they find what they’re looking for the first time around, they’re bound to come back for more.
